Works with 4K Alienware 17 R4

I have an Alienware 17 R4 gaming laptop with a 4K primary display, and besides being able to mirror, extend, and solo to a secondary display using this adapter (plugged into a Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C port), I can stream 4K UHD Blu-rays to my Samsung 4K UHD TV (solo to the TV, not mirror or extend) using this adapter along with Intel 630 graphics (Very important: with the latest driver. Also, I think this may be the only graphics for now that allows playback of 4K UHD Blu-rays), a Kolife 4K HDMI cable, and one of those USB 3.0 portable Japanese Pioneer 4K UHD Blu-ray drives. The only drawback is that, at least with my setup, HDR does not seem to be supported. Not a deal breaker for me (UHD is still visually superior to FHD), but I thought it'd be worth mentioning.

Lone Star for Now, edited to 4-star (could be a 5-star)

First, it arrived very late (ordered on 12/29/20 and arrived 1/9/21). When I got this adapter, I immediately plugged it into my DELL XPS 15 9500(2020) and connected 4k60Hz Sony HDR TV. It worked at 4K 60Hz for a minute or two. Then, I checked HDR capability on the display settings, it showed Yes to Stream HDR Video but No to Use HDR. There was a hope that this Uptab adapter might work at 4K60Hz with HDR. Then, all of a sudden my TV lost input signal and blacked out. I checked all connections, unplugged and re-plugged, changed to other ports, but to no avail. I plugged different brand adapter(,which I intended to replace with the Uptab adapter), it worked fine as before. I really wanted this Uptab adapter to work in my setup. It showed a glimpse of hope, then went dead. I am not sure this is a fluke or not, but I want to try again. I am ordering a replacement. When the replacement arrives sooner and it works, then I will add a lot more stars to my review.Edited 1/17/2021 - Got the replacement (it arrived a little faster than the first one) and plugged it in. It works as advertised. I am running my Sony Bravia 43X800H 4K TV at 4096x2160 at 60 Hz, 8-bit with dithering, RGB(4:4:4) with HDR. This is one of very few adapters that worked for my setup. I docked a one-star for the late delivery and the defective unit for the first shipment. Price is reasonable and well-made. I wish the USB-C cord from the adapter could be a bit longer, maybe a foot long?

First time buying HDMI

Never have bought a HDMI we recently done away with satellite tv and have started streaming instead. Would not work with our living room TV but worked with the one in our bedroom. My guess is that our living room TV may be too old of a model.IMO the color etc looked good however during use it started getting hot. I was not sure if this was normal with a HDMI so unplugged it to prevent any equipment damage. Now this could be a normal thing, as I said this was my first cable of this nature so I am not familer with what can take place.

Awesome 4K Monitoring!

I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on these types of adapters, but this product seemed to work as expected. I used it with some Ultra Clarity 4K cables, to ensure the signal wasn't compromised. I was able to select 4k @ 60 Hz, using a new Laptop and fairly new 4K Samsung TV. I did a fair amount of checking to ensure the laptop could handle 4K@60Hz before I bought it. Very pleased with shipping & product!
